ABOUT I AM LEGEND: SURVIVAL
What is I Am Legend: Survival?
I Am Legend: Survival is a multiplayer first-person shooter / RPG game playable in the 3D virtual world Second Life. The game transports players into an eerie replica of over 60 acres of New York City set in the chaotic year preceding the movie, I Am Legend.
The future of mankind hangs in the balance as players choose to play in either of two rival factions, uninfected and infected. Uninfected characters must fight to survive as they desperately seek the cure for the terrible virus that is destroying mankind. Infected characters have only one objective: to stop uninfected characters at all costs.
When does I Am Legend: Survival open?
I Am Legend: Survival opens October 12, 2007 at 10am PST/ 1pm EST.
How do I win the game?
The ultimate goal of the uninfected characters is to be the first to discover and assemble the cure. If you are infected, your goal is to prevent this from happening.
What areas can I explore?
I Am Legend: Survival is set in New York City. When the game opens, Central Park, Chinatown and Coney Island locations (called "sims" in Second Life) will be available. Columbus Circle will be opened in November. Certain locations have safe houses that either side can claim and defend (or reclaim) as their own. Other locations are “home base” areas that provide an advantage to either uninfected or infected characters.
Besides the I Am Legend: Survival gameplay areas, you can explore the rest of the Second Life world at any time, and come back when you’re ready to play again. I Am Legend: Survival weapons and gameplay items will not work outside of the official gameplay locations.

How do I learn how to play I Am Legend: Survival?
I Am Legend: Survival has an Orientation Island which will walk you through the basics of Second Life and
I Am Legend: Survival gameplay. When you register for an account and log in, you will land on Orientation Island. Use your arrow keys to walk to the next station on the New Player orientation track, and read the signs and practice the tasks to learn how to use Second Life. Then, go through the Game Orientation and read the signs to learn about
I Am Legend: Survival, get your game HUD (Heads Up Display) and practice the various skills you’ll need to play the game.
You can come back to the Orientation Island at any time to brush up on your skills. You can also visit the
Tutorials section of the I Am Legend: Survival website.
What are the different character factions and classes?
There are two character factions, the uninfected and the infected. Within each faction are two classes: uninfected has uninfected human and police dog, and infected has darkseeker and infected dog. Each class has different strengths and weaknesses that will affect your gameplay.
Can I change classes or factions after I begin playing?
Yes, you can change classes or factions at any time during gameplay. There is a mandatory time-out after changing classes or factions to prevent sneak attacks. You can change classes or factions using your gameplay HUD. If you change your class or faction, you will want to return to Orientation Island to get the appropriate clothing or costume, if you haven’t gotten it already.
How do I wear the clothing or costume for my faction/class?
Costumes and clothing are provided in the Orientation station. Click the appropriate sign for the class or character you want to play as to receive a folder containing clothing or costume parts.
Next, find the folder in your inventory. You can either right-click and wear each item individually, or drag the folder and drop it on your avatar.
To change back to your default clothing, use the same procedure with the folder named “Default Shape and Outfit” in your inventory.
How do I wear/use weapons?
Only uninfected humans can use weapons. To wear a weapon, find the weapon in your inventory – you will start out with a free pistol that you can get in the Orientation area. Right click the weapon and choose "Wear" to put it on.
To fire a weapon, you must be in "Mouselook" mode. Click the "Mouselook" button at the bottom of your screen, OR use your scroll wheel to scroll into "Mouselook," OR press "M" while you are in "WASD" mode to enter "Mouselook." Position your mouse pointer to aim, and left click once to fire your weapon.
What happens if I am killed? How do I revive?
If you are killed during I Am Legend: Survival, your Titler will display “Dead” and a glowing skull will appear where your character used to be. You can revive and rejoin the game by finding a resurrection circle and standing inside it until the timer counts down to 0. You will resurrect with only 50% health. You will not gain further health points by standing on the resurrection circle. You will not lose any inventory or other items outside of the I Am Legend: Survival game setup, and your Second Life account will not be affected in any way.
